The students dedication, commitment and sheer hard work have changed the lives of so many young people in Soweto through this project. This is something they and their parents should be extremely proud of.
As Headteacher, I have always asked students to be ‘the best they can be’ and uphold our school values of respect, honesty and excellence in everything that they do, at all times. The C2S group did this throughout the Soweto visit and for this I am very proud of them and grateful for the part they played in changing the lives of so many. It was also very clear that the young people from Culcheth High School who came back from Soweto on Tuesday were a very different group of students who left for South Africa ten days earlier. They have certainly had an experience of a lifetime and I believe it will have a profound impact on their own lives, forever.
On a personal level, the group of students were great company during the visit to Soweto and I enjoyed getting to know them even better and see them enjoy themselves so much.
Finally, I would like to thank the local community for the continued and dedicated support of the Culcheth-2-Soweto project and school. Without this support it simply wouldn’t happen.
