Our apprentices got to spend the morning questioning Booysie about life in Soweto. They learned all about apartheid, Johanesburg, tribes, Hector Peterson and much more.
Booysie is definitely a man full of wisdom. When we met him, he was full of character. I just knew at that moment he was a nice guy. He's so friendly- he gave me a hug!!!
On Wednesday, we had a discussion with him about South Africa. It was really interesting; there were many topics discussed such as the Apartheid and the shooting of the little boy Hector; he had a very positive attitude towards the African president. He's so knowledgeable it's unbelievable. He's amazing! We found out his love and compassion for Mandela and how he celebrates Mandela day. The night before, we prepared 5-6 questions on a wide variety of topics. He managed to answer all the questions with thoughtful answers.
As the days progressed, Booysie chatted with loads of people and at the Daten, before I played, Booysie said to me, "When you come to South Africa, we will jam together on the piano."
All in all, it was an amazing week with him; I'd love to have him as my headteacher.
