After school we had a walk through the village and stopped for a traditional English meal... From the chippy!
Booysie spent the day at Manchester City Football Club... He was adamant he would be Peps next big signing.
Mr Heaton took our visitors for a design technology lesson today using our laser cutter. The student enjoyed making their very own Culcheth 2 Soweto key ring keepsakes.
The Matseliso High School choir were one of many outstanding acts at this evenings CHS celebration evening. It was great to see many of our apprentices and veterans collecting awards and performing in a variety of acts also. A hugely successful night. Congratulations to our Culcheth 2 Soweto award winners Dan Hunter and Dimuna Ntombikayise Ntombizodwa for outstanding contributions to the programme.
By 2pm we were back at school where all our apprentices, veterans, friends and families were waiting eagerly to meet our guests. As soon as the Matseliso students were off the buses they broke out into song (visit our twitter page for the videos) before reuniting with old friends. We then went to the school hall for the formal welcoming ceremony where Head teacher Mr Hunt and Chair of Governors Mr Patel gave our guests a warm welcome. There were also some more fantastic musical performances from both Matseliso and Culcheth high school students. Guests were then paired off with their hosts and have now been taken home for the evening- where they hope to catch up on some rest ready for a full school day, followed by Celebration evening tomorrow! Whilst the Matseliso group were being collected from the airport Miss Longden and the apprentices were busy putting the final touches on the welcoming ceremony back at school. A fantastic job by the team to prepare for a welcome the Matseliso group will never forget. The travel agent contacted us early this morning to tell us that the Matseliso group were above Turkey and would be arriving in Manchester at 12:12. After a short drive up the M56 we waited impatiently at T1 arrivals. At around 1pm we welcomed our guests into the typically grey Manchester weather and headed back to Culcheth. Along the journey back the Matseliso learners were fascinated by the "huge green open land" and the "fancy cars!" We are heading into an exciting but busy week. Apprentices will need to ensure they demonstrate the necessary skills, attributes and character required to make the week a success. This week will largely inform the decision making process for the selection day on Tuesday 19th July. Please ensure you are well organised and self sufficient throughout the week- refer to your student itinerary booklet regularly. Most of all ENJOY IT! You will make lifelong memories and friendships with some amazing people.
Our apprentices did a fantastic job on a soggy Saturday last week! Our stall was well attended and raised lots of money. We would like to thank the carnival organisers, everyone who donated bottles for the alcohol tombola, everyone who visited our stall and of course the apprentices who kept high spirits throughout the day. |
